Foreign Contribution(Regulation) Amendment Act 2020 which introduces new restrictions in foregin investments in India was upheld by the Supreme Court. The court held that no body can have absolute rights to receive foreign funds.

The amendments to Foreign Contribution Regulation Act 2010 (FCRA), makes it mandatory to produce Aadhar Card for registration.

Operational FCRA accounts are forbidden from receiving foreign contributions thereby probhibiting the transfer of funds.

The court held that the amendments were intended to prevent misuse of donations coming from foreign source and to safe guard the values of sovereign democratic republic.
