The 4th India-US 2+ 2 (Defence and External Affairs) Ministerial Dialogue began on 11 April 2022 at Washington DC. The dialogue was led by Minister of Defence Shri Rajnath Singh and Minister of External Affairs Dr. S. Jaishankar in the Indian side and Secretary of Defence Lloyd Austin and Secretary of State Antony Blinken on the US side.
Modi-Biden virtual meet
Ahead of the Ministerial Dialogue, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Joseph R. Biden held a virtual meeting on 11 April 2022. In the meeting, PM Modi reminded Biden on the efforts taken by India in providing humanitarian assistance to Ukraine during the war. India and US are the World’s largest and oldest democracies and the partnership can bring about solutions to major challenges faced by the World.
The leaders discussed War in Ukraine, COVID 19 pandemic, the issues in global economy and the geo political order of South Asia and Pacific region. PM Modi had held discussions with the Russian President Vladimir Putin and the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and suggested them to hold “direct talks”.
