Finland decides to join NATO immediately after UK signs security pact pledging military support to Sweden and Finland. Meanwhile, Finland and sweden have received assurances from United States and Germany for defence support. Russia has warned of “consequnces” if they proceed with their intention to join NATO. 78% people of Finland support the move as per the latest opinion polls. Finland and Russia share 800 miles (1340 Km) border.

Joint Statement by Finnish President Sauli Niinisto and Prime Minister Sanna Marin.

“Finland must apply for NATO membership without delay,” Niinisto and Marin said. They also believe that there is no immediate threat. Russian invasion of Ukraine has changed the security situation in the region. Russia has warned Finland and Sweden from joining NATO. One of the major causes of War in Ukraine is the intention of Ukraine to join NATO. Sweden is also expected announce their intention to join NATO soon.
